Chuck Frye began his involvement in youth sports in 1996 when he
began working as a field medic (EMT) and trainer for youth and
high school football. Chuck worked as a trainer and
Assistant Coach for 7 years. Chuck began softball in 2001
coaching for Valley Springs Softball League. He began
umpiring in 2002 and began umpiring with ASA in 2003. In
umpiring, he has found his true passion, often telling his employer
"You know this job gets in the way of my career as an
umpire."
Chuck became Assistant UIC to Jerry Lightfoot in Motherlode in
2005. Jerry retired at the end of 2007 and Chuck Frye took
over as Umpire in Chief for Motherlode, which covers Amador and
Calaveras counties. Chuck was honored to work his first
national in 2008.
Chuck is a PERL programmer and the webmaster for GSJUA and
designed an umpire management program called
The Ump Assigner in use
by the GSJUA.
Chuck is a Staff Sergeant with the California National Guard
Small Arms Training Team (SATT) and serves as a weapons instructor
and the Personnel NCO.
His goal is to earn his National Indicator Fraternity and to
work the 18 Gold National Championships.
