Preliminaries
Feet: both feet on the ground and within the 24”
length of the Pitching Plate
Hands Separated: Both hands must be separated when
taking a signal or appearing to take the signal. The ball
may be in EITHER the glove or hand.
Shoulders: Shoulders must be inline with 1st and 3rd
base.
Signal: The pitcher shall take a signal or appear to
take a signal and then must bring her hands together for 1-10
seconds.
Understand the purpose of this rule is to prevent the quick
pitch. The rule does not imply that a pitcher must take a
signal or must take a signal from a particular person (such as
the catcher).

Step:
-
Female: Both feet must remain in contact with the pitcher’s
plate prior to the forward step.
-
Male: If the pitcher starts with the non pivot foot behind
the pitcher’s plate, a step backward may be taken before,
simultaneous with, or after the hands are brought together
The pivot foot must remain in contact with the pitcher’s
plate at all times prior to the forward step.
